DAN´s Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries Provider Course was designed to fill the void in oxygen first aid training available for the general diving public.
This course represents entry level training designed to educate the general diving (and qualified non-diving) public in recognizing possible dive related injuries and providing emergency oxygen first aid while activating the local emergency medical services (EMS) and/or arranging for evacuation to the nearest available medical facility.
In DAN´s most recent dive accident record, less than 33% of injured divers received emergency oxygen in the field. Few of those received oxygen concentrations approaching the recommended 100%. DAN and all major diving instructional agencies recommend that all divers be qualified to provide 100% oxygen in the field to those injured in a dive accident.
In addition to the Rescue and EFR classes, the DAN Oxygen Provider course prepares you to act correctly in the event of a diving emergency. DAN, the Diver's Alert Network, pioneered the concept of providing oxygen to the victims of decompression sickness and air embolism, and the DAN O2 Provider course is the gold standard in the diving industry. This course consists of a single evening of classroom instruction.
The DAN O2 Provider course costs $65, which includes the text.
This Just In: The DAN O2 Provider course is now available ONLINE!! You can complete all of the academics at home in front of your computer, then come in for the final exam and a short hands-on session learning to use the O2 kit. The cost is the same, $65, but you can do most of the course when it is most convenient to you, whether while you're at your job pretending to work, or at 2am after the Southpark reruns are off. You need to purchase the O2 Provider Workbook in advance, which has your log-on information, then contact us when you've finished the online program to schedule your test and hands-on session.
